Paul Wesley Watkins

Paul Wesley Watkins, 83, of Poteau died Sunday, March 18, 2012, in Poteau. Paul was born Jan. 25, 1929, in Fanshawe to Edward Roscoe and Cora Ellen (Salmon) Watkins. He was retired after working 30 years for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation,  where he served as LeFlore County Maintenance Superintendent. He was a member of the Community of Christ in Poteau. He was preceded in death by great-grandson, Wesley; his parents; brothers, Harmon and Tom; sisters, Mildred Moore and infant sisters, Grace and Eileen. Paul was an avid Sooner fan, loved to travel, loved to read. He loved gardening, yard work, carpentry, country music and spending time with his daughters.
 Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dorothy “Dot” Watkins of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte Stewart of Poteau, Paula and Jim Alfred of Tulsa, Sally and Brian Vincent of Poteau; seven grandchildren, Chad, Brooke, Sarah, Cori, Bailey, Sidney, and Emilie; four great-grandchildren, China, Riley, Cassie and Gabrielle; great-great-grandchild, Camden; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones. 
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at the Community of Christ Church in Poteau with Greg McGowen officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bruce Watkins, Scott Watkins, Joey Clubb, Jim Alfred, Brian Vincent and Bud Barnes. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present Department of Transportation employees.
