Pirate golfer, team fourth at Tahlequah

TAHLEQUAH — Poteau's Connor Wheat as well as the Pirates finished fourth at Tuesday's Tahlequah Invitational at Cherry Springs Golf Course.
Wheat shot a 40-39—79 to be the fourth-place medalist.
As a team, the Pirates had a 332, finishing behind host Tahlequah, Tahlequah's junior varsity and Sallisaw.
Two other Pirates were among the top 10 medalists. Jarrett Lowrimore was ninth (39-43—82), while Cody Shore was 10th (41-41—82). John Scott Sanders shot a 46-43—89, while Tyler Wolf carded a 60-59—119.
The Pirates will return to action on Tuesday in the Roland Tournament, which will begin at 9 a.m. at Ben Geren Golf Course in Fort Smith, Ark.
