It is pretty much a consensus that Friday night's Class 4A state quarterfinal victory for the Poteau Pirates over the defending state champion Clinton Red Tornadoes is perhaps the biggest win the Pirates have ever had on the hallowed grounds of Costner Stadium. The Poteau Pirates in all reality dominated the Red Tornadoes. Poteau kicked a 20-yard field goal with four seconds left in the game for a 10-7 win to put the Pirates in the Final Four against the winner of today's Oologah-Oklahoma City Douglas winner in next week's state semifinals. The Oologah-Douglass game was postponed Friday night due to inclement weather.
That game has been postponed until Saturday.
