Oh, what the difference a year makes. Last year, the Pirates were the up-and-coming team, while the Broken Bow Savages were the established team. The Pirates traveled over the mountain to Broken Bow with one goal, to defeat the Savages and gain the fourth playoff slot. A good effort was not enough as the Pirates lost and saw their playoff dreams and aspiration go down the tubes.
Over the off-season and up to now, there has been a complete reversal of rolls for the two teams. The Pirates got to as high as No. 3 in some polls while the Savages have only won one game and that was against Idabel, a team that has yet to win a game going into Friday night's home game with Heavener. The Pirates put a good whopping on the Savages as they won 41-7 on Senior Night at Costner Stadium.
