It has been a while since it happened, but Heavener and Poteau met Friday night on the turf at Costner Stadium. This rivalry used to be a staple in LeFlore County, and was just about as even its all-time record will testify. Poteau held a two-win margin over Heavener. The Wolves held the early series edge, but the Pirates ran off 10 wins as the series wained.
The format of the scrimmage was each teams would run a dozen plays. On defense, blitzes were not allowed.
Heavener started on offense and was dialed in on going for a home run on the first play, but Jace Pitchford went up for a jump ball against Serrano and pulled down the interception. Heavener got to the 30 but ran out of downs.
