As host teams of the 2012 LeFlore County Junior High Tournament, the Pansy Kidd Middle School basketball teams had the desire to sweep the titles — and they did just that.
The Raiders got past the Wister Wildcats 39-32 in the boys championship game Saturday night at Carl Albert State College's Mick Thompson Fieldhouse.
That came on the heels of the Lady Raiders' 28-23 upset win over the Howe Lady Lions in the girls' title game.
All four teams won their championship semifinals Friday night at CASC. The Raiders handled the Heavener Wolves 45-25, while the ’Cats defeated the Cameron Yellowjackets 35-22.
The Lady Raiders got their first of two upsets over the weekend Friday night when they upset the Spiro Lady Bulldogs 35-26, right after the Lady Lions outlasted the Hodgen Lady Bulldogs 47-38.
A pair of H schools claimed third place on Saturday, Heavener holding off Cameron 33-31, while Hodgen got past Spiro 41-27.
In fifth-place games on Saturday, the Panama Lady Razorbacks defeated the Wister Lady Wildcats 38-26, while the Spiro Bulldogs edged the Howe Lions 36-33.
The first teams to get hardware were on Friday night at Pansy Kidd Middle School in the consolation championships. The Whitesboro Lady Bulldogs handled the Arkoma Lady Mustangs 39-18, while the Pocola Indians beat the Hodgen Bulldogs 38-30.
