Playoff picture starting to take shape with two weeks left in 2012 regular season

October 19, 2012

As you read on the previous page, you found out who won and lost on Week 8 Thursday night.
Those wins, or losses, helped shape the high school football playoff picture as we head into the final two weeks of the regular season.
Some teams, like Spiro (District 3A-8), Pocola (District 2A-6) and Talihina (District A-6), were in positions to control their own destinies by winning out as action began Thursday night.
Other teams, like Poteau (District 4A-4), Heavener (District 3A-8), Panama (District 2A-6) and Arkoma (District C-4) were pretty much needing to win out, then get some help — which may have come Thursday night.
As my preview stories on our teams in next week's editions will touch on, we'll know where our teams stand with respect to their playoff-making status.
