Pocola athletes place at Class 2A Regional Track Meet, but no state qualifiers

May 1, 2012

LUTHER — The good news was that the Pocola High School track teams had some individuals place at Saturday's Class 2A Regional Meet. The bad news was that none made state.
The individual who had the best shot at making state was Lady Indian long jumper Karolina Thorpe, who tied for sixth with a mark of 12-2. However, she did not get one of the at-large bids to the Class 2A State Meet, which will be Friday and Saturday at Midwest City Carl Albert High School's Titan Stadium.
All other Pocola placers were below sixth, which made them ineligible for at-large state berths.
Kelci Ree was eighth in the 100-meter dash (14.76 seconds), while Brittany Lang was 14th (15.74). Thorpe was 16th iun the 200-meter dash (32.6).
For the Indians, Jonathan Remley was 11th in the 200-meter dash (27.09 seconds), Anthony Clopton was eighth (58.04), Colton Hamm 11th (59.41) and Travis Jones 14th (1:05.76) in the 400-meter dash, Hamm was ninth in the high jump (5-4) and Jones was 12th in the long jump (16-2).
