POCOLA — The Pocola Lady Indians softball team won its own tournament, but had to do it the hard way Saturday night.
The Lady Indians, who lost the winner's-bracket final 5-0 to the Wister Lady Wildcats earlier in the day, beat the Lady ’Cats twice by scores of 6-1 and 5-2 to win the inaugural Pocola Invitational.
The Lady Indians rebounded from the loss to Wister by outlasting the Stigler Lady Panthers 2-1 in a nine-inning game which went to the international tie-breaker to get to the championship round.
Stigler eliminated Cameron 6-0 to get the day started on Saturday.
On Friday, Stigler and Cameron both staved off elimination with wins, the Lady Panthers beat Spiro 4-1 and Cameron defeated McCurtain 9-6 and Keota 5-3.
