Pocola has stiff football test tonight against Hartshorne

October 12, 2012

It will be a big District 2A-6 showdown at 7:30 p.m. tonight when the Pocola Indians come calling on the Hartshorne Miners. The winner will take a stronghold on second place in the district.
“I think Vian is in a class all by themselves,” said Rick Lang, Pocola's coach. “I think everyone else is fighting for that No. 2 spot, and a home playoff game. We put ourselves in that position last Friday night to do so (tonight) against Hartshorne. I think we're two of the best teams, and whoever wins will be sitting pretty (for the No. 2 spot). Our kids know what's at stake. They're going to fight hard. They want it, and they can taste it. If we get a win, this program will take a huge step in the right direction, and the kids know it. Our kids are totally focused on Hartshorne. This week, we've got a shot for home-field advantage. We're going for No. 2, and if we win we're in (the playoffs). We're going to give it our best shot. I just hope our kids play their best ball, and we'll just see what happens.”
