Members of the Pocola Board of Trustees and the Pocola Municipal Authority are scheduled to have a meeting Thursday at 5:30 p.m. According to the agenda presented by the town the board plans to discuss and possibly vote to send city employee John Limbocker to the WESTEC Conference in New Orleans. The city would pay his airfare and hotel as well as give him a daily perdiem to attend. The conference is necessary for the sewer expansion project the city is considering. The city has been in discussions with the Choctaw Nation for a new of years regarding expanding the water and sewer system for the town.
Also on the agenda is to possibly approve a resolution for Belmont Development Company. Belmont owns the Garden Walk Apartments in Pocola. The property is the only one in LeFlore County that is owned by the company but it reportedly owns similar properties in several other states that specialize in low income and HUD housing. The company is reportedly seeking the resolution so that it can consolidate its holdings in order to obtain additional governmental funds.
