Pocola Indians open football season tonight against Regent Prep; game moved from Broken Arrow to Coweta

August 31, 2012

POCOLA — The Pocola Indians saw a heart-breaking end to their 2011 season last year. They lost three of their four final games — all three losses were in games in which they led — which kept them from making the Class 2A playoffs. They don't want that to happen tonight when they travel to meet Tulsa Regent Prep at 7:30 p.m. in Coweta.
“Hopefully, we can put an end to that,” said Rick Lang, Pocola's coach. “We'd play hard in the first half, but we'd come out in the second half and blow it. Hopefully, we can put it together for four full quarters. This will be a good opportunity for us to do that.”
The game was to have been played at Broken Arrow High School's old stadium, but the game was moved to the home of the Coweta Tigers.
To Get There — Take Oklahoma State Highway 9 west, past Sunset Corner, to U.S. 59. Take U.S. 59 north to Sallisaw. Take Interstate 40 west to the Muskogee Turnpike. Take the turnpike west to the Coweta exit (Oklahoma State Highway 51). Take Highway 51 west five miles to stadium.
