POCOLA — Nothing like doing things the hard way. Just ask the Pocola Lady Indians.
After losing the first game of the Class 2A District Tournament to Sallisaw-Central on Thursday afternoon, the Lady Indians staved off elimination twice. The last time gave them the district title as the Lady Indians blanked the Lady Tigers 6-0 in Friday afternoon's winner-take-all game.
The two teams split Thursday's games, with Sallisaw-Central taking the opener 3-2 and Pocola the nightcap 9-7.
The Lady Indians (17-8) will find out on Monday from the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association where they will be and with whom for next week's Class 2A Regional Tournament.
