Pocola looks to end losing streak Friday against Wilburton Diggers

October 10, 2013

Things have been rough the last two weeks for the Pocola Indians football team, losing 59-0 to Vian and last week 59-14 at home to Hugo. However, injuries have had a big part of that.
“We're about 90 percent we'll get two of our kids back — Anthony Clopton and Hayden Hindmarsh,” Pocola coach Rick Lang said. “With them back on offense and defense, that will make us better. [Quarterback] Johnny [Satterfield] is about 80 percent, but he's got to give it a go. It's a must win for us. Our season is on the line. We have to take them one game at a time, but we've got to make it happen this week.”
When Satterfield went down in last week's game, everything went downhill from there for the Indians.
“Playing Vian and Hugo, we knew they were going to be tough games,” Lang said. “We played Hugo good for a half, but when we lost our starting quarterback, it was like the lights went out and we got behind. We were going good until he got hurt.
If there was a good time to bounce back, it's now for the Indians (1-4 overall, 0-2 in District 2A-6 play) will travel to take on the winless Wilburton Diggers (0-5, 0-1) at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
