Pocola looks to end season with road win tonight at Mountainburg

November 8, 2013

A sports adage says that only one team can win its final game — the one that wins a state championship.
While there's no state championship at stake tonight when the Pocola Indians (2-7) travel to meet Mountainburg, Ark., to end their season, they can win their final game — which would be huge for the program.
“We just want to end on a positive note,” said Pocola coach Rick Lang, whose team is on a three-game losing streak since routing the Wilburton Diggers 66-27 Oct. 11. “We have a chance to win. We haven't had a two-win season since 2008. I have a good group of seniors who will be playing their last game who have been with me since they were sixth graders. They want to go out with a win and end on a positive note.”

To Get There — Take U.S. 271 into Fort Smith, Ark., where it becomes Interstate 540. Continue north on I-540 to Mountainburg.
