A child is recovering in the custody of the Arkansas Department of Human Services after it was discovered she had been raped and assaulted.
Heath Wayne Talley, 26, of Pocola, was arrested on charges of rape by instrumentation and child abuse in connection with the child's injuries.
According to the LeFlore County District Attorney's Office, the child reportedly suffered burns from an electrical cord along with the sexual assault.
District Attorney Jeff Smith said in a phone interview Tuesday, investigators with his agency in conjunction with Fort Smith and Pocola Police Departments are investigating the allegations.
Talley is being held in the LeFlore County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond.
