Pocola, Vian to meet in early District 2A-6 showdown tonight

September 23, 2011

The Pocola Indians are on a six-game winning streak, dating back to Week 8 of last season. They won last week 15-14 in come-from-behind fashion to down the Quinton Savages. It was a game Pocola Coach Rick Lang described as a “statement win.”
“These kids made the plays to win the game when they needed to,” Lang said. “We had injuries, adversity and everything thrown at us for four quarters. We won the game in the fourth quarter, and our kids made the plays. Our kids wanted it. It was a statement win. We're 3-0, and I think our kids wanted to be 3-0 going into the Vian game.”
Now, the Indians will welcome the 3-0 Vian Wolverines, ranked sixth in Class 2A, to John Carter Field for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff tonight in the District 2A-6 opener.
