Pocola welcomes Wilburton for annual 'Pink-Out' game tonight

October 5, 2012

For those fans attending tonight's District 2A-6 contest between the homestanding Pocola Indians and the Wilburton Diggers at 7:30 p.m. tonight at John Carter Field, they will be seeing pink — literally.
Tonight's game will be the second annual “Pink-Out” football game for the Indians.
“The first Friday home game in October is our 'Pink Out' game for breast cancer,” said Rick Lang, Pocola's coach. “It's a big tradition for us. We started it last year, and it's in honor of everyone who's had breast cancer in their immediate family. I'm going to paint everything pink. My kids will be in pink jerseys. We may be the only players who wear pink uniforms this year. For those who are coming to the game, I'd tell them to wear pink. We'll be passing around a helmet for donations to go to breast cancer.”
