Police v. deputies in basketball benefit

February 10, 2014

UP AND AWAY — Two more points added to the board by members of the LeFlore County Sheriff's Department benefit basketball team Saturday.

The Poteau Police Department squared off against the LeFlore County Sheriff's Department Saturday afternoon in a first-of-its-kind basketball tournament.
The event raised funds to assist with the county canine unit. More than $1,400 was raised Saturday.
During the event, a narcotics police dog demonstrated his ability to find hidden drugs.
The County Heat came away with the win.
Members of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, LeFlore County Emergency Management and other area law enforcement agencies also played on the two teams.
