Poteau Bandit League teams go 3-1 to open season at Sallisaw

September 8, 2011

SALLISAW — Most coaches will take a .750 winning percentage, and that was the percentage of Poteau Bandit League success in the season openers Saturday night.
The Poteau fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade teams all posted victories, while the Black Diamonds took the third-grade game.
The Poteau sixth-grade team won 36-0 as Kale Barcheers scored three touchdowns and Jamison Shackleford and Seth Ryan each had a TD.
Poteau took the fifth-grade contest 20-0 behind a touchdown apiece from Josh Smith, Christian Scott and Tylor Word.
Poteau defeated Sallisaw 30-0 in the fourth-grade game. Mason Barcheers scored two TDs, while Dauntey Warren and Easton Francis each scored a touchdown.
Colton Williamson's 70-yard touchdown run provided the only points for Poteau in the third-grade game as Sallisaw prevailed 21-6.
The Poteau teams will have their home openers Saturday at Costner Stadium against Vian. Games will begin at 5 p.m.
