For most people, when to make a change can be a hard decision to make. Just take Poteau Pirates Baseball Coach Ronnie Sockey.
After being at Poteau for 13 seasons, 11 of which was also spent as assistant fast-pitch softball coach, Sockey has decided it's time for a change. He accepted the job as the new fast-pitch softball coach at Greenwood (Ark.) High School.
“They were looking for someone to coach softball,” Sockey said. “It's always hard to pick the right time to leave, but it's going to be a challenge. They're just now trying to get fast-pitch going in Arkansas. They have a great grade school over there, and they have great facilities. It's going to be a challenge, and a bigger school system. It was one of those deals where you don't know if this type of job was ever going to come again.”
