Poteau to be in final scrimmage at Tahlequah with Miami

August 25, 2011

Sometimes it can be just as important to keep things going the way they are as it is to just improve. That seems to be the case with the Poteau Pirates football team, which will be in its final preseason scrimmage of the season at approximately 5 p.m. today against the host Tahlequah Tigers and the Miami Wardogs at Gable Field at Doc Wadley Stadium on the campus of Northeastern Oklahoma State University.
“Honestly, I saw quite a bit of good things last week,” Poteau Coach Jeff Broyles said. “Coming out of this scrimmage, I want to look sharp again. I was really pleased last week. We just want to keep things going. I want a continuation of what we did last week, and just keep building on that. That's what I want to see (tonight). I'm real pleased where we're at, and I'm ready to get started. The kids have done well. We've got a chance, but the key word is 'chance.' It doesn't mean it's going to automatically going to happen. We'll have to work for it, and we have the talent and ability to do something — if we'll put the time and work in that's required.”
