Spring is in the air, but so, too, will be the pigskin.
The Poteau Pirates, who played for the Class 4A state title in December and coming home with the silver ball as state runners-up, will begin their two-week spring drills Monday.
“We've been lifting and working for a long time, but the real padding up and getting after it will begin Monday,” Poteau coach Greg Werner said. “We're excited. We're looking forward to it.”
The spring game will be at 6:30 p.m. May 30 at Costner Stadium.
