PRYOR — The Poteau Pirates golf team will take a lot of momentum into Monday’s Class 4A Regional Tournament at Seminole’s Jimmie Austin Golf Course.
The Pirates won their regular-season finale as they captured the Pryor Invitational on Thursday with a score of 307-308—615. They were 20 shots ahead of runner-up Muldrow (635).
Three of Poteau’s golfers were top-10 medalists. Cody Shore was runner-up medalist with a 72-76—148. Connor Wheat was fourth-place medalist (77-74—151), while John Scott Sanders was seventh-place medalist (78-77—155).
As for the other Pirates, Jarrett Lowrimore shot an 80-81—161, while Connor Bandy carded a 93-94—187.
The Pirates won’t be the only LeFlore County boys golfers hitting the links Monday in regional tournament.
The Heavener duo of Chance and Colt Dunigan will tee off in the Class 3A Regional Tournament in Verdigris, while Cameron’s Kody Whitehead — who won the Class 2A Regional Qualifier on the same course on which the Pirates won Thursday — will be at the regional tournament at Sapulpa’s Clary Fields Golf Course.
