Poteau boys fourth, girls fifth at Greenwood Bulldog Relays; Pirates, Lady Pirates win events, relays

GREENWOOD, Ark. — The Poteau High School track season got underway Monday afternoon at the Greenwood Bulldog Relays. The Pirates were fourth, while the Lady Pirates were fifth.
In the boys' division, Poteau had 71 points, finishing behind three Arkansas schools — champion Alma (142 points), Gentry (103) and Magazine (75).
The Lady Pirates scored 73 points to finish behind team champion Magazine (104.5 points), Waldron, Ark. (99), Mansfield, Ark. (96) and Roland (80).
Several Pirate and Lady Pirate individuals and relay teams, however, did win their events.
For the Pirates, Jesse Woodson won the 100-meter dash (11.36 seconds), while Dakota Clark won the 110-meter hurdles (15.61). Woodson was runner-up in the 200-meter dash (23.16).
Kendrick Hardaway, Michael Reynoldss, Austin Barnette and Woodson won the 400-meter relay (44.8 seconds).
Reynolds was sixth in the 200-meter dash (24.62 seconds), Nico Hall was third in the 3,200-meter run (11:03.59), Hardaway was third in the 300-meter hurdles (44.04), Trevor Shankle was third (42-11) and Troy Barnett fifth (41-2) in the shot put and Shankle was fifth (111-0) and Barrett seventh (107-7) in the discus. Bobby Graham, Will Longenbaugh, Dylan Fox and Daniel Stacy were fourth in the 3,200-meter relay (9:52.82).
For the Lady Pirates, Latifah Harris won the 100-meter dash (13.39 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (27.02), while Colleen Peterson won the 400-meter dash (1:04.69). Jazmine Warren, Harris, Sheridan Hoyer and Peterson finished first in the 1,600-meter relay (4:26.78), while Warren, Deven Bond, Hoyer and Peterson took home the gold in the 3,200-meter relay (11:05.16).
Bond was second in the 1,600-meter run (6:12.82), Hoyer was third in the 400-meter dash (1:05.95), Warren was third in the 800-meter run (2:48.65) and Brianna Steele was sixth in the 200-meter dash (28.73 seconds).
The Poteau track teams were to run at the Wilburton Invitational on Thursday. Also scheduled to run there were the Arkoma and Heavener teams.
