Poteau boys golf team ties for third at Class 4A Preview

April 30, 2014

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Poteau Pirates golf team tied for third place at Monday's Class 4A State Preview, which took place at Lake Hefner North Golf Course. The Pirates tied Newcastle with a 320. Technically Poteau finished fourth on the tiebreaker of both team's No. 5 golfer's scores. Since Newcastle's No. 5 had a better score than Poteau's, the Racers were officially awarded a third-place team finish, with the Pirates fourth.
Oklahoma City Heritage Hall won the tournament with a 297, with Sallisaw second (313).
Poteau's Cody Shore was seventh-place medalist with a 74. Jarrett Lowrimore shot an 80, followed by Connor Wheat at 82 and John Scott Sanders at 84. Jeremiah Loggains had a 105.
The Pirates will wrap up regular-season play at 8 a.m. Thursday at the Pryor Invitational at Pryor Creek Golf Course.
