Poteau boys golfers win at Pryor; Pirate trio among top medalists; Class 4A Regional set Monday at Wolf Ridge Country Club

PRYOR — The Poteau Pirates golf team ended the regular season in fine fashion by winning the Pryor Invitational on Thursday at Pryor Creek Golf Course.
The Pirates had a team score of 303-307—610 for the 36-hole event, finishing 20 shots ahead of Hilldale (310-320—630) as the Pirates made up not only the seven shots they were behind the Hornets after the first 18 holes but beat them by 13 shots over the second 18 holes.
Poteau had three of the top five medalists. Cody Shore was the individual champion with a 71-71—142, Connor Wheat was fourth (73-79—152) and Jarrett Lowrimore was fifth (79-74—153).
John Scott Sanders shot an 80-83—163, while Jeremiah Loggains carded a 104-95—199.
The Pirates will begin postseason play Monday by hosting the Class 4A Regional Tournament, beginning at 8 a.m. at Wolf Ridge Country Club.
