Poteau boys soccer team takes second in Sykes Invitational; Lady Pirates, Pirates travel Tuesday to Hilldale

The Poteau Pirates soccer team came in second at the Sykes Invitational, which took place Saturday in three different locations in Arkansas — Van Buren, Fort Smith Northside High School and Greenwood.
The Pirates beat Van Buren 4-0, lost 2-0 to Northside and routed Mena, Ark., 10-0.
The news was not as good for the Lady Pirates, who lost all three of their games on the day. Poteau lost 3-0 to Van Buren, 2-1 to Northside and 3-0 to Mena.
The Poteau teams will return to action Tuesday in Muskogee against Hilldale. The girls game will take place at 5 p.m., followed by the boys contest at 7 p.m.
