Poteau cross country runners perform well at Chili Pepper Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Poteau High School cross country coach Tim Hall was very pleased with how his Pirates and Lady Pirates did in Saturday's University of Arkansas Chili Pepper Invitational.
Of his eight varsity runners, Hall had six of them have personal bests — Will Longenbaugh (19:40), Dylan Fox (19:47), Tyler White (19:54), Bobby Graham (20:10), Josh Anderson (20:11) and Noah Martin (20:53).
Daniel Stacy had the fastest time for the Pirates with a 19:23, while Nico Hall ran the 5K course in 19:55.
As far as the Poteau junior varsity runners, Hong Siu ran a 21:44, followed by Bobby Elkins (21:50), Matt Hinds (22:08), Wesley Reeves (22:28), Kendell Smith (24:42) and Trey Wells (25:41).
For the Lady Pirates, they, too, ran a 5K course. Deven Bond had the fastest time with a 21:59. Sheridan Hoyer ran a 22:59, followed by Tabitha Waldrop (23:20), Colleen Peterson (23:46), Samantha Galetka (24:16) and Shandee Staton (24:40).
The postseason has now arrived for the Pirates and Lady Pirates as they will run in the Class 4A Regional Meet beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tulsa's O'Brien Park.
