Poteau cross country teams begin season Monday at Haworth meet

The Poteau High School cross country runners will begin their season at Monday's Haworth Invitational.
The Pirates return three state qualifiers from a season ago. Dylan Fox was 56th (18:36.5), Ashby Clark was 71st (19:04.53) and Bobby Graham was 94th (21:08.17) at last year's Class 4A State Meet, where they were 14th as a team.
The Lady Pirates return five of their state-meet runners from 2012, in which they were ninth.
Returning are Deven Bond (21st at state, 13:13.09), Sheridan Hoyer (29th, 13:31.95), Edys Ocampo (74th (14:45.54), Kayle Dryer (78th, 14:51.73), Tabitha Waldrop (93rd, 16:01.03).
The Poteau teams will have a new coach this year as Poteau Pirates soccer coach Neto Silva, who's team won the Class 4A state title in May, will take over.
