Poteau cross country teams finish third at Haworth Lions Invitational; Pirate, Lady Pirate runners third individually

HAWORTH — Both Poteau High School cross country teams were third in the first meet of the season, Monday afternoon's Haworth Lions Invitational.
In the boys' division, the Pirates were third with 59 points, coming in behind DeQueen, Ark. (25 points) and host Haworth (50).
Individually for the Pirates, Nico Hall was third (15:25), while Daniel Stacy was 15th (17:02) as two Poteau runners made the top 15.
In the girls' division, it was the same. DeQueen won the meet (38 points), followed by Haworth (57) and Poteau (74).
Just as in the boys' race, the girls' race also had a third-place Poteau runner. Deven Bond was third with a time of 8:53. Her teammate, Colleen Peterson, was 12th (9:26) as two Lady Pirates made the top 12.
