The Poteau Pirates and the Talihina Golden Tigers went farther than any of the LeFlore County teams.
The Pirates (12-2) made it to the Class 4A state title game and brought home a silver ball, while the Golden Tigers (13-1) made it to the Class A state semifinals.
Between the two teams, they have three All-Staters to the East team for the 2014 All-State Football Game, which will be Aug. 1.
Poteau quarterback Jace Pitchford and linebacker Carlos Aguilar made the East team.
The third local All-State footballer is Talihina offensive lineman Jordan Blue, who was Co-Offensive Lineman of the Year on the All District A-6 Team.
The Poteau duo and Blue will join Arkoma's Tanner Sweeten on the East team.
Three other local football players — Poteau wide receiver Jarrett Lowrimore [Class 4A], Spiro linebacker Cole McKinney [Class 3A] and Talihina offensive lineman Caleb Blue [Class A], brother of Jordan Blue — made the All-State by Class list for their respective classification.
Should any of the current East team members not be able to play in the contest Aug. 1, Lowrimore or McKinney or Caleb Blue, or two or all three of them, could be called up as a replacement.
