Last week, the Poteau Pirates got a big District 4A-4 win as they celebrated homecoming with a 24-0 win over the Stilwell Indians at Costner Stadium.
“Especially after the last three weeks, we needed it (the win over Stilwell),” Poteau Coach Jeff Broyles said. “And I liked the way in which we did win. We really felt like we really dominated the game. I was pleased.”
Now, the Pirates (3-3, 1-2 in district play) will begin a crucial back-to-back weeks of Thursday night football against two of the District 4A-4 heavyweights — Sallisaw and Broken Bow. First up is a road trip to face the Black Diamonds at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Sallisaw.
