Poteau football playoff hopes dashed by loss to Broken Bow

BROKEN BOW — This games had more ups and downs than the roller coaster ride at Coney Island. The Poteau Pirates fought back to tie the score at 7-7, and then it appeared that the sky simply fell in on them. The Savages scored 16 unanswered points on the Pirates, and it appeared that life support was about to be pulled.
Poteau scored on a 77-yard run by Roger Barcheers and then held the Savages. Poteau had a shot to score on the last play of the game, but could not make connections.
For the second straight week the Pirates lost an offensive cogs starting quarterback Jace Pitcford went down with a knee injury on the last play of the first quarter.
The end result, the Pirates playoff run is now over, due to the 23-16 defeat at the hands of the Savages Friday night at Memorial Stadium.
