Poteau football team anxious to go up against somebody else finally; Pirates in three-way scrimmage at Tulsa Memorial along with Catoosa

August 17, 2012

For the first time since the 2011 football season came to an end, the Poteau Pirates will have an opportunity to go up against somebody else. That chance will be tonight in a three-way scrimmage at Tulsa Memorial along with Catoosa, which will begin at 6 p.m.
“After nine spring practices and football camp in summer, we're ready to hit somebody else other than those players in red helmets,” new Poteau Coach Greg Werner said. “We're looking forward to it.”
The major objective is to give the coaching staff a chance to evaluate the players.
“Friday night is all about evaluating, and seeing what we've got,” Werner said. “Then, we'll start making decisions on who's where. This will be a great chance to evaluate the players.”
