Poteau freshmen pass Sallisaw test with road win Thursday; PKMS teams split

September 29, 2012

SALLISAW — The Poteau Pirates freshmen football team jumped on the Sallisaw Black Diamonds early, and appeared to be in cruise control. Sallisaw got to within two points of the Pirates, but then the Pirates got great plays on the defensive side of the ball to set up Austin Archey on a 70-yard romp for a touchdown as they posted a 21-12 win over the Black Diamonds Thursday night at Perry F. Lattimore Stadium.
The evening of football began with a split of games between the Pansy Kidd Middle School teams and host Sallisaw. The seventh-grade Raiders crushed the Black Diamonds 24-8, while the Black Diamonds blanked the eighth-grade Raiders 16-0.
