Poteau freshmen, PKMS football teams complete sweep of Van Buren

September 15, 2012

After the Poteau Pirates varsity football team posted an 18-15 road win last weekend over the Van Buren (Ark.) Pointers, three more Poteau squads did likewise this week.
The Pirate freshmen remained undefeated with a 14-0 shutout of the Pointers Thursday night at Costner Stadium.
The week began on a high note for Poteau football as both Pansy Kidd Middle School teams beat Van Buren Tuesday at Costner Stadium. The eighth-grade Raiders got their first win of the season with a 24-8 victory over the Pointers, which came on the heels of the seventh-grade Raiders' 30-14 win.
The Pirate freshmen and the PKMS teams will all be at Muldrow next Thursday. Action will begin at 5 p.m. with the seventh-grade game, followed by the eighth-grade contest and the freshmen game. The games were originally scheduled for Costner Stadium, but Randall Wheat, PKMS coach, said at Friday night's varsity game that the games were moved to Muldrow.
