Poteau freshmen tame Broken Bow Savages

September 8, 2012

BROKEN BOW — Last week, the Poteau Pirates freshmen football team grounded out and rushed for more than 300 yards against the McAlester Buffaloes. But their game had a lot of holes and gaps in it. Thursday night at Memorial Stadium, the Pirates worked hard to improve their passing play and their fullback play. Even though the Pirates did not have a rusher to crack the 100-yard plateau, their offensive effort was greatly improved as their passing game and fullback play improved by leaps and bounds. The Pirates defense has been stout in the first two games, and against the homestanding Broken Bow Savages, the Pirates allowed only one first down all game long in a 27-0 win.
