Poteau freshmen unable to finish off Broken Bow in 2011 season opener

September 3, 2011

Poteau’s freshmen class of 2011 have matriculated through Bandit Football and Pansy Kidd Middle School and, to be truthful, they have had their share of set backs. In Thursday night's game against the Broken Bow Savages at Costner Stadium, you could see the skill level of both teams were on the same plane.
But if the youngest Pirates need to learn anything more, it would be to learn how to finish off a victory.
Poteau had the game well in control with less than four minutes remaining in the game. But an offside penalty negated a first down that in all reality would have sealed the 7-0 victory. Broken Bow drove the ball downfield and scored the 2-point winner for an 8-7 win.
