The seeding indeed held true as far as what two teams played for the 2012 LeFlore County Fast-Pitch Softball Tournament title Thursday night at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex, top-seeded Poteau and No. 2-seeded Panama.
For the second time on the night, and the third time this season, the Lady Pirates shut out the Lady Razorbacks 3-0 in the championship game — a contest ended after 5.5 innings due to rain.
The Lady Pirates, who shut out the Lady ’Backs 1-0 in a 14-inning marathon game on Aug. 28 in Poteau, pitched a shutout in the winner's-bracket final over the defending Class 2A state champions by a score of 5-0.
Panama reached the title game with a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over the Wister Lady Wildcats in the loser's-bracket final. Wister staved off elimination to begin the day with a 5-2 victory over the Pocola Lady Indians.
