Poteau girls come close, but miss out on state

The Poteau Lady Pirates softball team almost did the miraculous in staving off elimination three times to get to next week's Class 4A State Tournament. But in the end it was just too much to ask.
After routing Stilwell 13-0 in the loser's-bracket final of the Class 4A Regional Tournament Thursday afternoon, the Lady Pirates beat Fort Gibson 6-1 in the first title game, but lost 10-3 in the if-game to see their season end at 29-7.
