Poteau girls fall in regional title game to Muskogee

April 28, 2012

MUSKOGEE — Last fall, one Muskogee County team, the Fort Gibson Lady Tigers, beat the Poteau Lady Pirates in the Class 4A Fast-Pitch Regional Tournament to deny the Lady Pirates a trip to state. Thursday afternoon in the Class 6A Slow-Pitch Regional Tournament, another Muskogee County team dashed state-tournament hopes for Poteau.
The Lady Pirates lost 11-4 to the Muskogee Lady Roughers in Thursday's regional title game to end Poteau's season.
It was the second time the Lady Roughers downed the Lady Pirates (28-13) as Muskogee beat Poteau in the winner's-bracket final 13-5 after the Lady Pirates run ruled the Broken Bow Lady Savages 13-1. Poteau reached the title game with an 11-1 run-rule win over the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs in the loser's-bracket final.
