The good news Saturday night at Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse was that the Poteau Lady Pirates claimed their second straight Class 4A District Tournament title, but the not-so-good news was the Pirates suffered a loss.
The Lady Pirates won their second straight district title with a 59-45 win over the Hilldale Lady Hornets. However, in the nightcap, the Hornets were able to make it a split with the two schools as they defeated the Pirates 59-49.
The Lady Pirates (6-18) will play the Roland Lady Rangers at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Class 4A Regional Tournament in Roland, and they are three wins from a Class 4A State Tournament berth.
The Pirates (9-15) will meet the Checotah Wildcats at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Class 4A Regional Tournament in Roland in an elimination game.
