Poteau girls second at Mansfield track meet; Lady Pirate relay teams break meet records in winning their events

RECORD RELAYS — Six Poteau Lady Pirate track athletes were part of a record-setting day at the Senior Tiger Relays on Tuesday in Mansfield, Ark. Front row, from left — Deven Bond and Haley Griggs. MANSFIELD, Ark. — The Poteau Lady Pirates track team came in second at the Senior Tiger Relays on Tuesday. The Lady Pirates scored 110 points, finishing behind host Mansfield (128 points).
In coming in runners-up, the Lady Pirates had two relay teams set meet records.
The Spiro Lady Bulldogs were fifth with 52 points, while the Heavener Lady Wolves were sixth (47.5).
Arkoma's Jasmin Roberts got her team's five points as she was fourth in the discus.
On the boys' side the Pirates got their five points from Mason Jones, who was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.
The Spiro Bulldogs were fifth with 55 points, finishing behind champion Alma, Ark. (133 points), Booneville, Ark. (83), Paris, Ark. (57.5) and Roland (56). The Heavener Wolves were 11th (23 points).
Talon Woolsey got his Arkoma Mustangs their 10 points as he won the 800-meter run.
