Poteau girls split games at Class 4A Regional Tournament

October 4, 2012

MUSKOGEE — The Poteau Lady Pirates softball team will have to do it the hard way to make it to the Class 4A State Tournament next weekend.
The Lady Pirates blanked Sequoyah-Claremore 2-0 in the Class 4A Regional Tournament Thursday at Hilldale High School, but then lost in the winner's-bracket final 4-3 to host Hilldale.
The Lady Pirates (30-8) will play Sequoyah-Claremore at noon Friday in the loser's-bracket final, with the winner having to beat the host Lady Hornets twice in the championship round — which will begin at 2 p.m. Friday.
The Roland Lady Rangers were the first team to be eliminated from the regional, losing games to Hilldale and Sequoyah-Claremore.
