The good news is the Poteau Lady Pirates have a chance to get a second postseason plaque. They stayed alive in the Class 4A Regional Tournament Friday afternoon with a 62-40 rout of the Broken Bow Lady Savages in Sallisaw.
The Lady Pirates suffered their first loss of the postseason Thursday night in Roland with a 51-47 defeat at the hands of the host Lady Rangers.
The Lady Pirates (7-19) will play the winner of Friday night's Hilldale-Stilwell game at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon in Sallisaw for the consolation championship, and a trip to next week's Class 4A Area Tournament in Muskogee.
The Pirates played the second of what they hope is three elimination games as they faced the Broken Bow Savages Friday night in Sallisaw, and kept their season alive with a 38-29 win. They play the Idabel at 3 p.m. this afternoon in Sallisaw for the consolation title and a spot in the area tournament next week. Look for more on this game in Tuesday's edition.
