Poteau girls win own track meet Tuesday; several locals, relay teams win gold medals

The Poteau Lady Pirates track team got the season underway in fine fashion by winning its own Poteau Invitational, which took place Tuesday afternoon at Costner Stadium.
The Lady Pirates won the meet quite handedly, scoring 197 points which was well ahead of runner-up Broken Bow (116). Heavener was third (102 points), followed by Haworth (62), Howe (46), Sallisaw (36), Checotah (22) and Arkoma (13).
On the boys' side, Sallisaw won the team title with 166 points, with Broken Bow second (120 points) and Roland third (104). Checotah was fourth (68 points), followed by Muldrow (67), Heavener (32.5), Arkoma (25) and Poteau (22.5).
