Poteau golf coach, partner win Spider Webb Invitational

Poteau Lady Pirates golf coach Randall Wheat and Jonathon Spikes won the championship flight of the 2013 Spider Webb Invitational, which took place this past weekend at Choctaw Country Club. The duo shot a 61-67—128, beating the team of Damian Scott and Kevin Stann (65-65—130) — who won a scorecard playoff against Jason May and Kale Holton (65-65—130) for second place.
Jon Sullivan and Ronnie Burgess won the presidents flight title with a 66-64—130. Lyle Whitworth and Clark Summers (68-66) beat out Jerry Holton and Sean Coyle (66-68) for second place in a scorecard playoff as both teams shot a 134.
In first flight, Jonathan Burgess and Scotty White took first place with a 69-69—138. Jerry Spencer and David Byrd (70-71) finished in second place after beating Jon and Scott Clark (66-75) in a scorecard playoff after both teams carded 141s.
Mike and Matt Thomas claimed top honors in second flight with a 70-77—147, after beating Ben Gosey and Wayne Meeks (70-77) in a scorecard playoff.
In third flight, John Allen Williams and David White came in first (77-77—154), while Gary Dodd and Tony Knickle took second place (76-80) in a scorecard playoff over Billy Ray Hoffman and Travis Spencer (81-75) after both teams had 156s.
Leflore basketball coach Daniel Caldwell and Matt Blake won fourth flight, which was in a scramble format, with a 67-72—139. Steve Bell and Danny Minor were second (68-75—143), finishing a shot better than the duo of Jose Chavez and Mike Deere (72-72—144).
