Poteau golf girls capture Cherry Springs Invitational

TAHLEQUAH — The Poteau Lady Pirates golf team won the Cherry Springs Invitational on Wednesday at Cherokee Trails Golf Course.
The Lady Pirates dominated the field, winning with a team score of 366, with Coweta a distant second (382).
Two Lady Pirates, Hannah Ward, the two-time defending Class 4A state champion, and Dallas Terry, were among the top 10 medalists. Ward, who signed earlier this year with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, won the individual title with a 73, while Terry was the 10th-place medalist with a 95.
Skylynn Terry just missed the top-10 medalist list as she was 11th (96), followed by Shelli Cobb (102) and Alyssa Vineyard (103).
The Lady Pirates will return to action with their own Poteau Girls Invitational on Thursday at Wolf Ridge Country Club. Action will begin at 9 a.m.
