OKLAHOMA CITY — Mother Nature's wrath was felt big time at Lake Hefner South Golf Course, the site of the Class 4A State Girls Golf Tournament.
Due to inclement weather, which featured sleet, the final round of the tournament was postponed on Thursday, thus turning the tournament into a one-day event that took place Wednesday afternoon.
The Lady Pirates, who were the defending state champions, ended up as state runners-up with a score of 360, finishing one shot behind state champion Hilldale (359).
However, despite the weather conditions, defending individual state champion Hannah Ward was in a tie for first place after Wednesday's opening round. After the weather conditions improved Thursday, a playoff got started, and Ward won it on the first hole with a birdie to defend her state crown with a 74.
One other Lady Pirate golfer medaled as senior Cathleen Manlove, playing in her final event, finished 11th with an 88.
Skylynn Terry had a 91, followed by Dallas Terry at 107 and Alyssa Vineyard at 112.
